Technical Officer-Agriculture Extension

Required Education, Skills & Experience

• Maximum age of 40 years.

• Strong technical knowledge of climate-smart and homestead-based agricultural practices.

• Excellent facilitation, training, and community engagement capabilities.

• Strong Bangla communication skills, both written and verbal; working knowledge of English is an advantage.

• Basic proficiency in MS Word and Excel for documentation, record-keeping, and reporting.

• Ability to work independently in field locations with minimal supervision and effectively manage time across multiple villages.

Other Requirements

• Motorcycle riding skills with a valid driving license will be preferred.

• Willingness to travel extensively within Tala Upazila and stay in or near the project area.

• Strong commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and community accountability.

• Willingness to comply with World Concern Bangladesh’s Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities

A. Farmers Field School (FFS) Management

• Identify suitable saline-tolerant crop varieties and climate-smart agricultural technologies based on local conditions.

• Facilitate the establishment and registration of Farmers Field Schools (FFS) in targeted communities.

• Support regular FFS sessions through proper scheduling, attendance monitoring, and facilitation.

• Develop or adapt IEC materials on climate-smart agricultural practices for FFS participants.

B. Technical Training & Demonstration

• Plan and deliver training sessions for lead farmers on climate-smart agricultural techniques and technologies.

• Establish, maintain, and monitor demonstration plots as practical learning platforms for farmers.

• Train farmers on agricultural advisory mobile applications and digital extension services.

C. Input Support & Livelihood Diversification

• Coordinate the distribution of agricultural inputs to selected households while ensuring transparency and proper documentation.

• Support targeted households in establishing homestead nutrition gardens during Rabi and Kharif seasons.

• Organize livestock vaccination camps in collaboration with the Department of Livestock Services and Local Service Providers.

D. Market Linkage & Stakeholder Coordination

• Arrange farmer-market linkage workshops to strengthen agricultural value-chain connections.

• Maintain regular coordination with Local Service Providers (LSPs), government departments, and relevant private-sector stakeholders.

• Coordinate with the Department of Agricultural Extension, Department of Livestock Services, and other relevant organizations.

E. Homestead Nutrition Gardening

• Assist targeted households in establishing productive nutrition gardens within available homestead spaces.

• Promote year-round access to fresh and organically grown vegetables.

• Conduct regular monitoring and provide technical guidance on manure application and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.

F. Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance

• Maintain accurate records, including attendance sheets, input distribution lists, monitoring documents, and other project records.

• Prepare and submit timely activity, financial, and progress reports to the Project Manager.

• Provide necessary data and information to the MEAL Officer for project monitoring and reporting.

• Ensure all activities comply with World Concern Bangladesh's program quality, safeguarding, and Code of Conduct standards.

• Document project activities systematically and develop relevant promotional and communication materials.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager in support of project objectives.
