Responsibilities & Context

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of resilience innovation projects, plans, and processes with a focus on Anticipatory Action (AA), ensuring alignment with broader programme policies and guidelines.
  • Provide project management support to the Resilience Innovation Unit’s programme activities and serve as the primary focal point for AA while ensuring coordination with wider programmes in compliance with WFP standards and procedures.
  • Supervise a small team responsible for maintaining and regularly updating the AA database, and support the development of a future handover plan of the database to the Government.
  • Lead coordination of AA activities alongside WFP’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit and other resilience innovation initiatives.
  • Coordinate with WFP Cooperating Partners (CPs) for resilience and AA-related activities, including onboarding, training, communication, coordination, and processing of reports and payments.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders and represent WFP in forums such as:
    • Anticipatory Action Technical Working Group (AA TWG)
    • UNCERF coordination group
    • Other resilience and humanitarian coordination forums as assigned
  • Conduct research and analysis on policy and operational issues to support the development of programmes and policies related to:
    • Anticipatory Action (AA)
    • Shock-responsive social protection
  • Contribute to accurate and timely programme reporting to support informed decision-making and stakeholder communication.
  • Support the identification, development, and management of partnerships aimed at improving food assistance programmes.
  • Assist in capacity-building initiatives for WFP staff, partners, and government institutions related to food assistance preparedness and response.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management or supervisors.
