Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting both individual and group counseling sessions, preferably with PWDs or mental health beneficiaries.
  • Practical experience in community outreach, engagement activities, and awareness campaigns.
  • Basic knowledge of counseling methods and psychosocial support approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and cultural sensitivity skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of mental health and disability-related referral mechanisms will be considered an advantage.

Responsibilities & Context

Program Officer – Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate field logistics, including timely procurement, safe storage, and preparation of assistive devices and project materials for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

  • Oversee project supply chain activities, maintain inventory of office and specialized supplies, and ensure cost-effective availability of required materials.

  • Plan and supervise the distribution of assistive aids and project materials while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and proper documentation.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with government authorities, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), community and faith leaders, and partner organizations.

  • Coordinate and manage partnerships with OPDs and other stakeholders to mobilize resources and strengthen support services for beneficiaries.

  • Facilitate group sessions for PWDs, caregivers, and peer support groups to promote psychosocial well-being, inclusion, and community participation.

  • Identify PWDs and individuals requiring mental health support through community outreach, household visits, and engagement activities.

  • Conduct awareness sessions on mental health, stress management, social inclusion, and overall well-being.

  • Provide basic one-to-one lay counseling for individuals experiencing mild mental health concerns using active listening, empathy, and appropriate counseling techniques.

  • Conduct mental health screening, home visits, follow-ups, and ongoing psychosocial support for beneficiaries.

  • Coordinate referrals to appropriate healthcare providers, specialized services, government programs, and OPD clinics based on beneficiary needs.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, follow-ups, referrals, and beneficiary support activities.

  • Prepare timely and comprehensive reports covering logistics, procurement, distribution, stakeholder engagement, and beneficiary support as required by the Project Manager.

  • Maintain proper documentation and filing systems for procurement, distribution, partnership, and program activities to ensure compliance and audit readiness.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management and adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and emergency situations to ensure effective program implementation.
