World Vision Bangladesh

World Vision began its journey in Bangladesh in 1970, responding to the catastrophic Bhola Cyclone, which devastated the southern coastal districts and claimed countless lives.

In 1971, World Vision returned to assist families displaced by the Liberation War, providing support to those living in refugee camps near the Bangladesh-India border.

Following the country’s independence, the newly formed government officially invited World Vision in 1972 to support the resettlement and rebuilding of war-affected communities. The organization established its first office in Birishiri, Netrokona. In the following years, World Vision launched child sponsorship programs and initiated efforts to reconstruct buildings, as well as build hospitals and schools.
