About Company
Society for Assistance to Hearing Impaired Children (SAHIC) is a voluntary non-government organization founded in February 1987 by Prof. M. Nurul Amin, a renowned ENT specialist. It was registered with the Department of Social Services in 1989 and NGO Affairs Bureau in 1990. SAHIC works to prevent, detect early, and rehabilitate hearing-impaired individuals—especially children—and treat ENT diseases.
Inspired by a UN resolution and WHO recommendations, SAHIC began organizing rural ear camps in 1990 to raise awareness and provide treatment. With support from CARITAS Bangladesh and Andheri Hilfe (Germany), and land donated by the Government at Mohakhali, Dhaka, SAHIC built the National Center for Hearing and Speech for Children (NCHSC) in 1992, equipped with modern ENT and rehabilitation facilities.
In 1994, SAHIC opened an Integrated Pre-school for hearing-impaired children (ages 3–6) to provide special education, also supported by Andheri Hilfe. Since 1998, the organization has sustained its work through patient fees, public donations, organizational support, and annual government grants.
