Assistant Network Engineer (POP In-charge)

Conduct site surveys at remote locations to ensure the proper installation and operation of racks, power systems, fiber optic cables, and other network infrastructure. Report any defects, risks, or technical issues to the concerned authority. Participate in an on-call support rotation, including nights, weekends, and emergency maintenance activities as required. Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned by management to support operational requirements. Work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions and during different shifts, including day and night operations. Carry out tasks safely when working near power lines, electrical systems, and other potentially hazardous environments. Prepare technical and operational reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing relevant data and information. Coordinate closely with the Network Operations Team to ensure successful network rollout, maintenance activities, and service delivery targets. Supervise and manage field operations teams, ensuring work quality, productivity, and compliance with operational standards, while reporting progress to the Line Manager. Perform fiber optic cable splicing, jointing, and restoration activities for large-scale cable deployments and maintenance projects. Create and maintain graphical layouts, documentation, and network diagrams for cable maintenance, connectivity testing, and infrastructure management. Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert on fiber optic networks, providing guidance and support to team members on technical procedures and best practices. Act as the Point of Presence (PoP) In-Charge, taking full responsibility for PoP operations, maintenance, equipment management, and service availability. Undertake any additional assignments or responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor, Team Leader, or Management.

Oversee and manage technical support operations for both retail and corporate IPTSP subscribers, ensuring high service availability and customer satisfaction. Coordinate with ICX, CISP, and ANS partners for Short Code services, LTFS, interconnection requirements, and other telecom-related operations. Design and implement IP Telephony and VoIP solutions, including network architecture, integration strategies, capacity planning, and service optimization. Manage Linux-based server infrastructure, virtualization environments, operating system deployment, firewall administration, and security configurations. Configure, integrate, and maintain telecom platforms and equipment, including FXO/FXS Gateways, Elastix/Issabel, ViciDial, Grandstream/Yeastar IP-PBX systems, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), and legacy telecom systems. Administer and maintain Class 5 Softswitch platforms, including subscriber provisioning, system integration, troubleshooting, billing management, and service optimization. Experience with iTel Softswitch will be considered a significant advantage. Manage SMS service platforms, including A2P and P2P SMS gateways, while ensuring seamless interoperability with vendors, CISP, and ANS partners. Perform proactive system monitoring, performance analysis, and fraud detection activities to ensure service reliability and security. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including NOC, Billing, Business Operations, and Sales, to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers, ensuring prompt support and resolution of technical issues. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and escalation support to junior engineers through training and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Carry out any additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the department or management as required.
