About CHRF
The Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a leading non-profit organization committed to advancing scientific research, promoting science education, and expanding scientific knowledge. Founded in 2007 and registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau, CHRF’s core mission is to improve child health in Bangladesh by enabling evidence-based policy decisions for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases through rigorous research and advocacy.
CHRF comprises an interdisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, epidemiologists, community health workers, statisticians, engineers, and mathematicians—united in the goal of reducing the burden of childhood infectious diseases. Our research spans epidemiological studies on diseases such as typhoid fever, pneumococcal disease, and dengue fever. We also conduct large-scale microbial genome sequencing and generate extensive genomic datasets to track and understand the pathogens circulating in Bangladesh.
In addition to research, CHRF is deeply invested in capacity-building through its “Building Scientists for Bangladesh” initiative, which offers workshops and courses tailored to high school and university students, as well as early-career professionals. CHRF operates five microbiology laboratories across Bangladesh and partners with renowned global institutions such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organization (WHO), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Imperial College London.
