Vehicle Maintenance and Operations:
Conduct daily technical inspections of assigned vehicles (tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.) and weekly checks per the MSF logbook. Refill and maintain cleanliness to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition. Perform handovers if the vehicle is used by another driver.
Ensure safe transport of passengers, adhere to speed limits, traffic rules, and MSF security regulations to prevent accidents.
Verify that all passengers have the necessary travel documents and that non-MSF staff sign responsibility disclaimers before using the vehicle.
Ensure proper loading and unloading of goods, document delivery status, and submit completed records to Logistics.
Keep all vehicle documents and driver’s license valid and present in the vehicle.
Report any incidents involving passengers or goods to the line manager.
Communication and Security:
Operate all types of radios, codes, call numbers, and radio alphabets, and communicate with base as per MSF policy to report vehicle location and potential issues.
Follow all security rules related to vehicle movement, checkpoints, customs, and roadblocks. Ensure passengers are aware of and comply with security regulations.
Display ID cards while driving and wear appropriate closed shoes (sandals not permitted).
Keep the line manager updated on road conditions.
Record mileage, fuel receipts, servicing, repairs, accidents, and other relevant information in the logbook.
Assist passengers in opening doors and provide guidance on vehicle rules and safety.
Help nurses and patient coordinators with stretchers and patient movement during referrals.
Vehicle Care and Maintenance:
Ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition, both internally and externally, including engine and chassis maintenance.
Maintain emergency kits, tools, jacks, straps, ropes, and other reserved items; report missing or defective items immediately.
Ensure safe parking, especially at night or during holidays.
Fasten seat belts for all passengers and adjust driving style to match road, vehicle, and weather conditions.
Adhere to maximum load capacities and proper loading/unloading procedures.
Disinfect the vehicle after each trip.
Authorized Use and Compliance:
Only MSF drivers or mission-approved personnel may drive MSF vehicles; violation must be reported.
Verify approval from technical logistics manager/fleet supervisor before transporting personnel or goods.
Prevent entry of armed or uniformed personnel and police into MSF vehicles.
Ensure goods are securely stored in the vehicle; avoid carrying passengers in the cargo area unless authorized.
Comply with mission security rules while crossing restricted roads, checkpoints, or customs.
Report all security-related incidents to the movement monitoring officer or head of drivers.
Smoking is strictly prohibited in MSF vehicles; flammable materials must be handled with caution.
Stay close to the base when outside to ensure vehicle security.
Reporting:
Immediately inform the supervisor of accidents, damages, or technical faults.
Report security incidents or critical information observed on the road or received via radio.
Professional Driver Skills:
Assist with MSF vehicle tools and procedures, including logbooks and daily/weekly checks.
Support basic vehicle maintenance (Service A & B routines) and understand mechanical spare parts.
Manage fuel responsibly, following MSF refueling procedures and safety rules.
Drive according to MSF safety standards and regulations under supervision.
Telecommunications:
Operate MSF communication tools, including mobile and satellite phones, under supervision, and maintain movement communication.
Safety:
Apply MSF safety principles under supervision, implement safety plans in case of accidents, and use basic technical safety tools.
Follow contingency protocols to manage difficult roads, high-traffic areas, and checkpoint procedures.
Other Benefits
Employment Type: Permanent contract.
Salary: Fixed at Level Three (3) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 45,000); non-negotiable. Income tax will be deducted according to current tax regulations.
Leave: 2 annual leave days for each month worked.
Medical Insurance: Coverage for the employee and direct dependents as per the Health Care Policy for Locally Recruited Staff.
Other Benefits: No relocation allowance. Two festival bonuses after completing one year of continuous service.
