Responsibilities & Context
- Grace Hospital is seeking dedicated and clinically competent Medical Officers to provide high-quality medical care across the Labour Ward, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and General Inpatient Floor.
Labour Ward – Medical Officer Responsibilities:
- The Medical Officer will work under the supervision of the Consultants and Registrar/ Senior Medical Officer to ensure timely diagnosis, treatment, and continuity of patient care.
- Medical Officer Responsibilities: Perform initial assessment of obstetric patients on admission.
- Monitor labor progress and assit consultant in normal vaginal deliveries. Assist in cesarean sections and obstetric procedures.
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies (e.g., PPH, eclampsia, obstructed labor).
- Document maternal and fetal conditions; maintain partograph and case sheets.
- Counsel patients and families regarding labor progress and procedures.
NICU – Medical Officer Responsibilities:
- Assess and stabilize neonates immediately after birth, including resuscitation.
- Manage premature and critically ill newborns under consultant supervision.
- Perform and monitor procedures like ET intubation, umbilical line placement, and oxygen therapy. Interpret lab investigations and imaging; adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Maintain clear communication with NICU nurses and parents regarding the neonate’s condition.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols in the NICU
In General Indoor Medical Officer’s Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine patient rounds; monitor vitals, symptoms, and treatment responses.Admit, transfer, and discharge patients with appropriate documentation.
- Manage inpatient medical and post-surgical cases in collaboration with senior physicians.
- Respond to floor emergencies and provide basic life support or stabilization.
- Coordinate with nursing staff and ensure smooth interdisciplinary care.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, attendants, and the clinical team.
- Perform duties as per roster, including emergency response. Uphold the hospital’s standards for ethical and compassionate care.
